A chemical peel is a skin resurfacing procedure in which a topical chemical solution is applied to remove top skin layers. Peels are graded by their depth of treatment and the conditions being treated. A light chemical peel removes the outer layer of skin (epidermis), medium peel reaches the epidermis and upper part of the middle layer of the skin (dermis) while the deeper peels penetrate even deeper.
At Deerfield Dermatology, we offer light to medium depth peels to treat skin conditions such as hyperpigmentation, melasma, photodamage, aging skin, acne, sensitive skin, rosacea, preventative care, and so much more.
What to expect day of treatment?
On the day of your treatment your provider will double cleanse your face, use a chemical exfoliant to help remove any dead skin, and perform extractions as needed. They will then apply the first layer of the chemical peel, wait 5 minutes, and then apply a second layer of peel. After waiting for the sensation to defuse, the provider will determine if patient needs an extra layer (is there frosting?), if no more layers are required, we will neutralize the peel with advanced treatment booster and rebalance cream, apply SPF, and send the patient home with their post peel kit and instructions on how to use it.
