Microneedling is a minimally-invasive, non-surgical skin rejuvenating treatment that uses an automated medical device to create controlled punctures, or microchannels, in the upper layers of the skin. These microchannels stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin and increase circulation in the treated area as the natural healing response is triggered. The newly formed collagen and elastin work to provide the skin with a more supportive structure and help to smooth fine lines and improve the overall health of the skin. This treatment can be used to improve the overall quality of the skin, improve tone and texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve the appearance of acne scarring, pore size, stretch marks, traumatic scars, and brown spots.
Benefits of Microneedling
• Stimulates collagen production
• Improves skin texture & tone
• Reduces the appearance of fine lines
• Reduces the appearance of large pores
• Enhances the effects of topical skin care products
What areas can Microneedling treat?
Microneedling can treat face, neck, and décolleté, along with all areas of the body – arms, legs, and abdomen.
What does it feel like?
The feeling associated with microneedling is similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating needle tip makes the treatment comfortable. However, the skin is prepped and numbed with a topical anesthetic before the procedure.
What is the downtime?
Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the depth of needles used and the number of overlapping passes performed. On average, patients are red for 2-4 days and in many cases peeling does occur. Utilizing post-care products will speed up the healing process.
When will I see the results?
Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment as collagen production continues.
How many treatments will I need?
It is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 4 - 6 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars, it is recommended to receive 6-8 treatments.
