A chemical peel is a skin resurfacing procedure in which a topical chemical solution is applied to remove top skin layers. Peels are graded by their depth of treatment and the conditions being treated. A light chemical peel removes the outer layer of skin (epidermis), medium peel reaches the epidermis and upper part of the middle layer of the skin (dermis) while the deeper peels penetrate even deeper.
At Deerfield Dermatology, we offer light to medium depth peels to treat skin conditions such as hyperpigmentation, melasma, photodamage, aging skin, acne, sensitive skin, rosacea, preventative care, and so much more.
What to expect day of treatment?
On the day of your treatment your provider will double cleanse your face, use a chemical exfoliant to help remove any dead skin, and perform extractions as needed. They will then apply the first layer of the chemical peel, wait 5 minutes, and then apply a second layer of peel. After waiting for the sensation to defuse, the provider will determine if patient needs an extra layer (is there frosting?), if no more layers are required, we will neutralize the peel with advanced treatment booster and rebalance cream, apply SPF, and send the patient home with their post peel kit and instructions on how to use it.
Retinoid Treatments: can be used individually or as a booster to other chemical peels. The retinol peels help lift pigmentation, promote cellular turnover (minimizes signs of aging), and reduces impaction in acne patients. Great for post-treatment exfoliation.
1. Advanced Treatment Booster
Treatment Time: 10 minutes add on service or 30 minutes full treatment
Recommended Frequency: to be done in with a peel or in place of peel
This is a great treatment for when your skin is in need of exfoliation. It can be used on its own to increase the skin’s cell turnover but it is best used as a treatment booster for those who want more peels and exfoliation with their treatments.
It is also a great neutralizer for PCA Peels and helps reduce redness and soothes the face after a procedure. It will minimize treatment sensitivity and make the patient much more comfortable. All skin tones and types are safe for this product.
2. 4% Pure Retinol Peel
Treatment Time: 30 minutes or 10 minutes add on service
Recommended Frequency: Monthly for 3 sessions for optimal results
This is a retinol peel that is safe to use on all Fitzpatrick types without risk of chemical burn.
Best used for rejuvenation, smoothing, brightening, and evening the skin tone. This peel offers dramatic peeling beginning 2-3 days post treatment and lasts up to 10 days. Make sure your patient is fully aware of the downtime before performing the treatment on them.
It can also be used along with another peel choice to help treat active acne. If the patient does well with this peel, you can consider moving up to 6% retinol if necessary.
Post Procedure Solution Kit:
Add on to any peel or facial purchase.
The post-treatment kit helps patient’s sooth, hydrate, and protect their skin during their healing process. It reduces discomfort and dramatically improves the results of the peel. The price of the kit should be included in all the chemical peels. It isn’t an optional take home kit; it is necessary to ensure proper healing and post care treatment. The post treatment is just as important as the treatment itself. Make sure your patient understands this and show them how and when to use the products in this kit.
